Yeah, that cursor jitter or total freeze for a second every few minutes? It drives you nuts. You're clicking, and nothing happens. Then it snaps back. Most people blame drivers or USB ports—but I've seen this dozens of times, and the real fix is often dirt simple: bad RAM or a dying motherboard capacitor.
First, the quick fix that works 80% of the time
Before you waste hours in Device Manager, try this. Unplug your mouse, reboot, and plug it back into a different USB port—preferably one directly on the motherboard, not the front panel. If that doesn't stop the freeze, open your case.
I had a client last month whose cursor froze every 10 seconds. He'd bought a new mouse, reinstalled Windows, and was ready to throw his PC out the window. I popped the side panel, reseated his RAM sticks (just pushed them down firmly until they clicked), and the freeze vanished. Took 30 seconds.
