You just got that shiny new 16GB kit from Amazon, popped it into your motherboard, hit the power button, and... nothing. Fans spin, LEDs light up, but your monitor stays black. No BIOS splash, no beeps, no nothing. This exact scenario happens all the time – I had a client last month who swore his new RAM was DOA, but it turned out he'd pushed the sticks in at an angle and only one side clicked. Sound familiar?

The root cause is almost never a dead stick. It's usually one of three things: the RAM isn't seated fully, the motherboard hates the new RAM's timings, or you've put the sticks in the wrong slots. Sometimes it's even a dirty contact or a bent pin in the CPU socket from when you installed that aftermarket cooler.

Fix 1: Reseat the RAM – properly
